MG VS CYLONE BAR

LEAGUE MATCH 11 AGAINST CYLONE BAR.

CEYLON BAR IS THE IN FORM TEAM AT THE MOMENT IN THE LEAGUE, THEY JUST OVER TOOK KL INTERNATIONAL TO GO TOP OF THE LEAGUE BUT THE MG'S ARE NOT A PUSHOVER.HAVING A GOOD RUN OF 6 UNBEATEN MATCHES IN THE CUP AND LEAGUE THIS YEAR...... ITS GONNA BE A TOUGH AND PHYSICAL MATCH. MG'S WERE BOASTED WITH THE PRESENCE OF JUAN'S (CAPITAN) WIFE AND DAUGHTER AND ALSO OUR FRIEND PATRICIO WHO FLEW IN FROM CHILE ON SATURDAY JUST IN TIME TO JOIN THE HOOPERS

WITH THE SUSPENSION OF TOBIAS, MIKEY(INJURED) KURT( INFECTION) OUR NEW FOUND CAT FROM VENEZUELA MANUEL WILL BE IN GOAL.

MARCELO, LIM, GERRY, SEBASTIAN AT THE BACK WITH JUAN, LUIS,JEROME, AND GRAHAM IN MIDFIELD.
THEN WE HAVE OUR IRANIAN PARTNERSHIP UP FRONT HOSAIN AND ASKAN.

CEYLON BAR STARTED BRIGHTLY WITH THE LEAGUE TOP SCORER SIMON SEATON LEADING THE THEIR ATTACK, JUST 5 MIN'S IN THE GAME SIMON MANAGE TO BEAT OFFSIDE TRAP GETTING INTO THE PENALTY BOX AND WAS HUSTLE DOWN BY MARCELO....PENALTY APPEAL BY THE CEYLON'S PLAYER NO NO SAYS THE MAN IN BLACK, FROM FAR IT LOOK LIKE A PENALTY BUT SOMETIMES YOU GET IT SOME TIMES YOU DON'T.... LUCKY HOOPERS DID NOT GIVE AWAY A SOFT PENALTY. CYLONE CONTINUE TO BUILD UP THIER MOMENTOM WITH SOME GOOD PASSING BUT WAS CUT OUT BY GOOD DEFENDING FROM MARCELO, THERE WAS ONE VERY GOOD PASSING FROM MARCELO TO LUIS WHO MADE A LONG PASS TO GRAHAM AND HE SLIP THE BALL TO ASKAN WHO BROKE FREE BEATING 1 DEFENDER AND WAS ABOUT TO SHOT FOR GOAL BUT WAS DENIED BY TOM HOWEL WHO HACKED ASKAN FROM THE SIDE SENDING HIM TUMBLING ON THE GROUND, PENALTY APPEAL FROM THE GRASSHOPPERS AND AGAIN THE REFFREE SAYS NO.
AS THE CONFIDENT GROW THE HOOPER'S NOW START PRESS ON FROM A COUNTER ATTACK FROM MARCELO WHO FOUND HOSSAIN WHO BEAT A DEFFENDER AND WAS FOUL, FREE KICK FOR MG'S, ASKAN STEP IN TO TAKE IT OUTSIDE THE PENALTY BOX IT HIT THE DEFFENCE WALL FOR A CORNER. ASKAN FLOATED A BEUTIFUL BALL JEROME RISES TO HEAD THE BALL IT HIT THE GOAL POST, JUAN WAS THERE FOR THE REBOUND BUT KICK AWAY ON THE LINE LUIS UNDA IT WAS REALLY UNLUCKY FOR JUAN NOT TO SCORE.

THE BREAKTHROUGH CAME BUT IT WAS FOR CYLONE BAR AS AKBORSH PLAY A NEAT BALL SLIPPING PASS THROUGH THE LEGS OF LIM TO MIKE HUSLER WHO SHOT PASS OUR NEW CAT (MANUEL) 1-O TO CYLONE BAR.

MG'S WERE STUNTED! LOOKS DISORGANISED PLAYERS WAS WALKING ON THE FIELD LOOK LIKE NOT INTERESTED TO PLAY MAYBE BE COS OF THE BLAZING SUN? THE HOOPER'S PRESS ON TO LOOK FOR THE EQUALISER BUT WITH NO REAL CHANCES...REFEREE BLOWS FOR HALF TIME. SECOND HALF SAW MG MAKE A FEW CHANGES WITH IRANIAN WIZARD ASKAN MOVED BACK TO HIS USUAL LEFT SIDE MIDFIELD, AFTER 5 MIN'S THE SWITCH PAID OF ASKAN BROKE FREE ON THE LEFT BUT WAS INTERCEPTED BY NIALL (CEYLON DEFENDER)FOR A CORNER . HOSSAIN TAKES IT HE SWUNG IN A POWER SHOT ASKAN WAS THERE TO HEAD THE BALL AND DEFLECTED TO ONE OF THE CEYLON PLAYER AND INTO TO THE ROOF OF THE NET GOALLLLLL 1-1. NOW THAT THE SCORE WAS LEVEL THE HOOPER'S WERE IN CONTROL WITH ASKAN, HOSSAIN, JUAN AND LUIS IS CONTROLLING THE GAME. FROM A LUIS TROUGH BALL FOUND HOSSAIN IN THE PENALTY BOX HE TURN AND SHOT THE BALL HIT CEYLON'S BAR DEFENDER HAND WITH NO CHOICE THE REFEREE POINTED FOR A PENALTY. HOSSAIN COOLLY SENT ADRIAN TO WRONG DIRECTION TO GIVE MG A 2-1 LEAD. NOW THE LEAGUE LEADERS WERE TRAILING BEHIND THEY MAKE A FEW SUBSTITUTION TO LOOK FOR AN EQUALISER, THE MATCH BECAME TOO PHYSICAL THE MAN IN BLACK HAVE NO CHOICE TO FLASH YELLOW CARDS TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE MATCH. WITH MINUTES TO GO CEYLON BAR WON THE BALL FROM GRAHAM WHO ONLY NEEDS TO HOLDS ON TO THE BALL, HUSLER MAKE THE MOVE PASS THE BALL TO THE LEFT SIDE FOUND STEPHEN PANG WHO MAKE A ONE TWO WITH NIALL AND CROSS THE BALL TO THE CENTRE.......

OVER THE HEAD OF MARCELO AND SIMON SEATON HEADED IN HIS 18 GOAL OF THE SEASON TO MAKE IT 2-2. WITH A MINUTE TO GO MG FELT 2 POINTS SLIPPED AWAY AT THE VERY END. IT WAS A GOOD RESULT FOR MG'S WHO'S STILL UNBEATEN THIS YEAR....HOPE WE CAN DO BETTER NEXT WEEK .....HOP HOP HOP HOP

MG 2- MALURI 1

the squad-
Manuel ( keeper)
darmen, marcelo, lim, gerry
gonzalo, juan, mike, askan
tobias, hosain
subs- klaus, jerome, saied

The MG's are still unbeaten this year after last week 5 - 2 demolition of UKAY fc. Our Opposition this week is Maluri second in the league who only manage a 2-2 draw againts the resurgent Butcher FC, with thier ex national goalkeeper (V. Murugan) travelling all the way from Ipoh and star striker Craig Rodney looking for a victory againts the MG.

MG's were missing a few important player with Kurt the cat( fever)Alberto(shoulder)Graham,John,Luis(away), after juan, mike, marcelo's disscusion we have our lineup shown on top with Manuel replacing Kurt who is in the hospital.
as usual the mg's were slow off the mark and it shows as maluri took charge, they husle us into losing possesion, they filled uo the gaps left by us and began to attacked us hard in the first 20 minutes. there was an incident where mani the maluri right winger broke free drible pass Marcelo luckily Lim was there to clear of the ball but with a heavy two foot tackle by Mani that earn him a yellow card and Lim's substituited by Jerome. invitably they came off with the goods scoring from a high cross that was met with a superb diving header from Craig Rodney leaving Manuel with no chance 1-0 to maluri. Mg's reorganised very quickly tweaked our central deffence and midfield a little, only then the puzzles fell into place, the passing, positioning and the support play all came in together nicely. confidently we pressed for an equallizer...from a set piece mikey played the ball to the right side for Tobias who turn and beat the defender before setting up Jerome who smashed the ball to the top right corner living maluri Ex national Goalkeeper no chance 1-1 the scored. eventually it was the last kick of the half.
second half we were determind not to concede anymore goals- marshal by our Raging Bull in defence and Pit Bull in midfield, couple of good comunications we literally shut down Maluri attacks, with maluri runs out ideas Mg's make a quick counter attack with darmen playing the ball to Askan who found Tobias on the right as tobias easilly drible pass thier deffence and rounding of the keeper to slot home his 12 Goals of the season. 2-1 Maluri was shocked so are thier supporter and the bench, they came back strongly looking for the equaliser with 1 attack after another but the strong midfield of Juan, Jerome, Hosain, Askan, manage to cut them off. with time running out Maluri tried from shotting from far with no success leaving manuel to pick up the balls and run down the clock....... but the mg have the last attack with askan decepting one of thier attack and he drible pass 4 defender and was unlucky thier keeper make a super safe then came the final wisle, final score MG 2 Maluri 1.
man of the match - the Malaysian Grasshoppers hoop hoop hoop

MG VS BHC MATCH REPORT

ON a wet & drizzly afternoon at the Linatex ground, the mighty MGs kicked off with 10-men on the pitch.

After just 7 mins of play, Tobias 'Crucifix' opened the scoring from a perfectly weighted throughpass, ias he ran down the right side and fired a shot to the near post giving their keeper no chance at all.

Within 5 mins , and from the middle of the pitch, our new recruit Askan 'Ash' decided he'd take on the Lion's defence... and he did... evaded 3 tackles and shot into the far post from the left side.

Two-nil up, with only 10-men... we were cruising! Reinforcements came and we begain stroking the ball like the liverpool of old.

Cruise-mode soon came to a grinding halt when we gifted possession to their main striker who seized the opportunity and rifled one in, low and hard from outside the box. it was like a golf tee shot where the ball would start slow and eventually pick up speed, except this one took a bit of a slice as it moved away from the clutching grips of our diving El Gato.

2 -1 halftime

2nd half was an evenly balanced affairwith both sides pressing for more goals... MGs' defence, marshalled by Marcelo Raging Bull, did well to contain the Lions. There were a few scary moments where the lions came close but somehow, we did enough to clear our lines.

Midway through, we earned ourselves a free kick about 30 yards out. From the left, Luis stepped up and curled the ball round the wall , over the keeper dipping into the top right corner... 3-1! It was like a trademark Beckham free kick...

The Lions came back almost immediately with their 2nd.. this time, we failed to clear our lines and the ball sat up gratuitously for their main striker to slap the ball past a stranded El Gato.

Ash came close to his 2nd goal and what a goal it would have been... after some good play on the right, Uncle Gonzo (i think) crossed it to Ash who control chested it down and volleyed it ever so sweetly, beating the keeper and the crossbar! (it was like Kevin Philips' 2nd goal strike against Wolves last night).

After a few more oohs and aahs!, the mighty MGs held on to win 3-2.

Good game, good spirit, great fun.. hop hop!

Cheers
